Pre-Trip Planning: Dutch Adventure
Before your trip it is important to make lists. What do you want to see? To get an idea of what you want to see or do, watch some YouTube videos or search for things to do. – for this trip I looked up quaint Dutch villages that are a change from the bigger area of Amsterdam. Research costs, open/close hours, and other important factors. – are the cheese shops in Gouda open on all days of the week? are there national holidays that fall on our travel plan dates? I like to visit

Day 1: From the Corn to the Canals
Let me first off say that this trip was a gift for my 40th birthday back in October...spring break worked out much better for us than the autumn. We left our house around 10am and headed to the airport. One great thing about our airport is that it takes 15 minutes from the time you get into the security line to the time you are at your gate. So nice! We flew Delta to Detroit and had a 4 hour layover until the Airbus A330 scooped us up to take us across the pond to Amsterdam.

Day 2: Maastricht
We woke up in the Airbnb feeling rested and ready for a full day of Dutch living. We decided to walk to Maastricht University to go a coffee shop called Bandito Espresso. Walking onto a college campus in a different country was a trip, man. I expected it to be like an American college campus but it was way more relaxed and gave more of the commuter college vibe. We walked through some of the buildings and admired the steep marvel that is the Dutch staircase! Don't fall, now!
